Racing Dusk 20 Miler

16 December 2023 - Start at 9am with an 8hr cut off.
Package pickup will be at Gords Running Store (919 Centre St, N) from 4-6pm on Dec 14th and 15th.
Welcome to the newest race being put on by Iron legs Running Company. This new race is different than most races out there, this one is run near the winter solstice and comprises of 3 loops that all start and finish at West Bragg Creek. What makes this race really different is that you can run the loops in any order you want, all loops to be run counter clockwise. So do you run the loop with the least elevation gain first? Do you run the longest first? Or do you go after the longest climb first? No matter what order you choose, you may not know where the other runners are and who is in the lead. It means you have to trust your strategy and push hard from the start.
The time limit is 8hrs, which may sound like a lot for 20 miles but in mid-December you never know what the weather is going to be like. It could be a very cold day, there could be a foot of fresh snow, or it could be mild and dry. As the sun sets around 4:30pm this time of year, you will want to make sure you don’t take too long out there or you will be racing dusk.

Cost
$95 - plus GST & registration fee
$105 after 17 Oct, 2023 - plus GST & registration fee.
Register by Oct 17th to ensure you get a shirt and the correct size
Cut Off Time
The last loop must be started by 2:30pm. Headlamp required if starting after 1pm.
Mandatory Gear
The following must be carried at all times:
Mitts or Gloves
Race bib
A minimum of 1 litre of water
Toque
Additional warm layer
Space blanket/bivy bag
Headlamp if starting last loop after 1pm
Cancellation/Refund Policy
We understand that things happen, you get sick, get injured, have a family emergency, family plans change or some other reason that is preventing you from making the starting line. We wish there was a way to give a full refund to everyone but due to costs that start months before the race we are only able to give a 50% refund if you cancel prior to October 17th, 2023.
If the race is to be cancelled due to unforeseen reasons, such as but not limited to weather, smoke, fire, permit issues, etc., then the refund will be based on how close to the event and what the expenses have been.
Registration
Loop 1 - Telephone Loop, Disconnect, Long Distance and back to the start/finish on Whitetail.
Loop 2 - Ranger Summit, Strange Brew, and back to the start/finish on Boundary Ridge.
Loop 3 - Whitetail, Braggin Rights, Merlin View, Braggin Rights, and back to the start/finish on Whitetail.
